Inmportant message for presenters and participants

Presentation

Oral presentation

PAAL 2011 would like the first presenters in each session to serve as the moderater of that session. He/she just introduces the speakers' names and the titles of their session before the first presentation.
The time allotted for an oral presentation is 20 minutes with a 10-minute question and answer session immediately after it. The staff tells the presenters the remaining time: "5 min. left", "3 min. left", "1 min. left", and "Time's up."

Poster presentation

Poster presentations will be given a two-hour block of time, and will take place in foyer. The panel of poster is 120 cm high and 90 cm wide.

Registration fee

You can pay the registration fee for the 16th PAAL conference on-line by PayPal (here) until 23:59, Friday, 29, July, 2011. The on-line fee system is available until 23:59, Friday, 29, July, 2011. If you miss this deadline, please pay the following fee in cash at the conference site. We accept only HK$ for paying the registration fee.

PAAL 2011

The PAAL Conference is a forum for academic exchanges among scholars and practitioners in applied linguistics and related areas. The conference provides a venue for the dissemination of current research on a wide variety of issues concerning Asia and beyond. This year, the conference is co-hosted by PAAL, Centre for Enhancing English Learning and Teaching, Faculty of Education, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Educational Research Association, and is co-sponsored by Cross-Cultural Distance Learning Research Center, Waseda University.

The 16th PAAL Conference will be held in Hong Kong, China at The Chinese University of Hong Kong from Monday, 8th to Wednesday, 10th of August, 2011. Hong Kong, meaning "fragrant harbor" in Cantonese, is one of the world's leading international financial centers situated on the south coast of China and enclosed by the Pearl River Delta and South China Sea, and it is also known as one of the seats of learning in Asia.
